Inspired by Nausts, (Norwegian Boathouses) Kolman Boye Architects designed a breathtaking summer home on the island of Vega. The 1500 sq ft house lies embedded in the surrounding landscape less than one hundred miles from the Arctic Circle. According to Kolman Boye, "the site is distinctive for its grand and harsh northern landscape with wide panoramas of the Norwegian Sea and the jagged mountains rising from it." Large windows make it possible to let in all the wilderness that makes up the Norwegian archipelago. The simplicity of the design allows nature to inspire.
